Friday morning we got up and it had been raining all night in Fairbanks.  We decided to head out to the campsite anyway.  Birch lake is about 40 miles from Eielson.  Anyone who has ever lived here knows that just five miles down the road the weather can be totally different.  And it was.  It was a little cloudy, but warm.  It was beautiful.  I don't need clear skies and 90* to be happy.  So we were glad we decided to come.  We got camp set up and then went out exploring.  We walked around in the woods.

Then we went down by the lake.  It was really beautiful. 

At around 11:30 we came back to the campsite and made s'mores.

Then the kids got in bed, we cleaned up and got in bed too.  All in all it was a wonderful day!
