144/365

Busy day..   Spencer's Dr appt.  Then Commissary to shop for food for out trip.  Then home to talk to Nate before he left for the airport.  Then Fred Meyer for fishing supplies.  Then home again.  Lunch.  Packing.  Back to the Dr for Kayeligh's appointment.  And home for dinner and more packing.  Then gymnastics.  After gymnastics Spencer broke his fishing pole that I told him not to touch.  So we went to Fred Meyer to take it bacThe tech at Kayleigh's appointment asked about our family situation, who lives at home with us.  I told her it was just me and the kids right now, my husband is on a remote tour in Korea.  Later in the appointment she asked again, "He's just in Korea, right?  He's not deployed or anything?"  Yeah, he's "just" in a country half way across the world for an entire year without us.  No biggie.  Give me a break, you are fricking active duty, you should know what a short tour to Korea entails, you f-ing idiot!  While I know he is much safer than if he were a soldier in Afghanistan, my kids don't know that.  It's not like Army wives tell their kids, "Oh, daddy is just in Afghanistan getting shot at and driving by roadside bombs."  If my kids talked to other kids whose dads were gone, they would both be going through the same things.  My kids are still sad and miss their dad.  It shouldn't matter where is he is.  People should understand that this does emotional damage to children too!  It really is starting to drive me crazy that our year apart isn't as important as others just because he is not in a "war zone".
